Robert Dougherty
Partner

Robert Dougherty is a Partner of Buchanan Street Partners. He is responsible for ensuring strict underwriting standards, risk analysis, due diligence, pricing and structuring on Buchanan investments. He is a member of the Buchanan Investment Committee and a Portfolio Manager of several institutional separate accounts. Robert is integral in the incubation of new funds and investment programs. He has 26 years of commercial real estate experience including 10 years with CarrAmerica Realty Corporation and has an extensive background in acquisitions, financing, and asset management of office properties and retail centers that includes property transactions totaling in excess of $1 billion. Prior to joining Buchanan, Robert headed up his own retail investment advisory firm and also held investment and asset management positions with First Washington Realty and The Crosland Group, Inc. He holds a B.S. in Commerce from the McIntire School at the University of Virginia.

Kevin Hampton
Executive Vice President

Kevin M. Hampton is responsible for sourcing, developing, acquiring and stabilizing multifamily communities. Mr. Hampton has over 26 years of multifamily development and acquisition experience in both the public and private multifamily sectors throughout California, Colorado, Utah, Texas and Arizona. Mr. Hampton has developed and acquired over 14,000 multifamily units with a market value of over $3 Billion.

Prior to joining Buchanan, Mr. Hampton was responsible for multifamily investment strategy and execution as President of PLC Apartments. Prior to PLC, Mr. Hampton directed development and investment operations throughout the Western United States at Associated Estates, a publicly traded REIT. Previous to that Mr. Hampton as Vice President of Development oversaw multifamily developments at Western National Realty Advisors and prior thereto Mr. Hampton worked with Archstone/Ameriton Properties where he was responsible for internal development and joint-venture investment strategies on a national level. Mr. Hampton earned a BA in Economics from the University of Colorado, at Boulder, and is a licensed California Contractor and Real Estate Broker.

Mark Oddo
Senior Vice President

Mark Oddo is responsible for the underwriting, due diligence, and ongoing asset management of fund investments. Mark has over 25 years of real estate experience. Prior to joining Buchanan Street Partners, Mark led the asset management function for the institutional advisory group of Draper and Kramer, Inc. based in Chicago. He possesses a diverse professional background including construction management, lending, consulting and underwriting of institutional quality real estate located throughout the United States in all major real estate asset categories. Mark received a B.S. and an MBA in Finance from DePaul University.

Joseph Maehler
SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT

Joseph Maehler has over 15 years of real estate debt and equity experience and is responsible for leading the Buchanan Mortgage Holding efforts which include sourcing, structuring and underwriting real estate debt investments.  Previously Joseph led the national investment efforts at Waypoint Homes (NYSE: SWAY now NYSE: INVH).  Joe originally joined Waypoint Homes in 2011 as the founder of the Southern California operation. As the head of Southern California he oversaw the early stages of growth for the company having bought over 2,000 homes and invested approximately $300.0MM in the infant stages of the single family residential industry.  Ultimately Joe was promoted to running investments nationwide for Waypoint Homes where he helped see the company’s national expansion and various mergers with Starwood Property Trust in 2014 and Colony American Homes in 2016.  Upon his exit the resulting $7.7B company owned or managed over 35,000 homes nationwide.

Joseph Maehler began his career in 2003 with Buchanan Street Partners where he worked on structured debt and equity for commercial real estate transactions and was involved in the closing of over $3.0B worth of CMBS, mezzanine debt, bridge and equity capitalization.

Brian Payne
Vice President

Brian Payne is responsible for the acquisition and asset management of equity investment opportunities. Brian has over sixteen years of real estate experience and possesses an extensive background in acquisitions, financing, development and asset management across all major real estate asset categories that includes transactions in excess of $1 billion. Prior to joining Buchanan, Brian worked with LNR Property Corporation where he was responsible for the development and asset management of assets located in California and Arizona. He also led the underwriting and due diligence efforts for various real estate product types. Prior to LNR, he worked with The Carlyle Group as an analyst for the company's U.S. real estate funds.

Brian graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Maryland. He earned a CPA designation and is an active member of the NAIOP Young Professionals Group.

Kimberly Kanen
Vice President

Kimberly Kanen is responsible for the underwriting, financing, and closing of new investments; managing the formulation and implementation of strategies for each property, and ultimately overseeing the disposition of assets at the end of their holding period. Prior to joining Buchanan, she was Director of Asset Management & Leasing for The Garrett Group, a land and investment management company with 2.5 million square feet of office and industrial product under ownership. Kimberly has over 28 years of commercial real estate experience including portfolio management for The Irvine Company where she was the Portfolio Manager for 4.2 million square feet of Class A office space in Orange County. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a major in Real Estate Finance from the University of Southern California.

Matthew Haugen
Vice President

Matt Haugen is responsible for sourcing equity investment opportunities in Orange County, San Diego, Houston and Dallas. Matt has nine years of institutional real estate investment experience. In his ten years with Buchanan Street Partners Matt has also been a lead analyst in the origination of over $500 million in debt placement business and the lead analyst in the asset management of principal investments valued at over $750 million.

Matt graduated with a B.S. in Business Administration with an emphasis in Real Estate Finance from the University of Southern California. He is an active member of the NAIOP Young Professionals Group.

Chris Cervisi
Assistant Vice President

Chris Cervisi is responsible for sourcing, structuring and underwriting real estate debt investments on behalf of Buchanan Mortgage Holdings (BMH). Chris has over eight years of equity and debt experience across the major property types. Prior to joining Buchanan, he worked at Jupiter Holdings LLC where he was focused on acquisitions and asset management, including underwriting, market research, business plan formulation, reporting of fund investments, and dispositions.

Prior to joining Jupiter, Chris was a Workout Officer in the CRE Special Assets Group at Union Bank and completed its Commercial Credit Training Program. Chris received a B.S. in Finance from San Diego State University, and is also a level 3 candidate for the CFA Designation.

Christopher Gaudreau
Assistant Vice President

Chris Gaudreau is responsible for sourcing, structuring and underwriting debt investments and maintaining capital market relationships on behalf of Buchanan Mortgage Holdings. Chris has over eleven years of experience in commercial real estate lending. Prior to joining Buchanan, Chris worked for Sunwest Bank where he was responsible for originating over $250 million in bridge, construction and term loans across all asset classes. He also led Sunwest’s analyst training program and assisted in due diligence for loan portfolio acquisitions. Prior to Sunwest Bank Chris worked at U.S. Bank where he was a relationship manager in its Special Assets Group.

Chris graduated with a B.S. in Business Administration from Pepperdine University and holds a Certificate in Real Estate from the Merage School of Business at University of California, Irvine. He is a graduate of the NAIOP Young Professionals Group and an active member of the YPG Alumni Committee.

David DiRienzo II
Investment Analyst

David DiRienzo is an Investment Analyst at Buchanan Street Partners and is responsible for conducting financial analysis and underwriting of multifamily assets in the Western United States. David also assists with investment packages, due diligence, and management of active assets portfolio.

Prior to joining Buchanan Street, David worked at a land development firm, The True Life Companies, as Senior Land Analyst and was responsible for acquisition underwriting and management of project financials in Southern California. Additionally, David assisted in Project Management support through full life cycle of projects including due diligence, entitlement, horizontal development and disposition of assets representing over 250 acres and totaling over $65 MM in land acquisitions.

David earned a B.S. Business Administration, Emphasis in Finance from the University of Colorado at Boulder and serves as the Co-President of its local Orange County Alumni Chapter.

Stephanie Tan
Investment Analyst

Stephanie Tan is an Investment Analyst at Buchanan Street Partners. She is responsible for conducting financial analysis and underwriting of equity investment opportunities in the Dallas, Orange County, Phoenix, and San Diego markets. Stephanie also assists with duties relating to asset management, due diligence, and investment packages.

Prior to joining Buchanan Street, Stephanie worked at KBS Realty Advisors as a Senior Corporate Accountant where she was responsible for the accounting of all cash related activity of $11.3 billion in assets. Before joining KBS Realty Advisors, she was a Staff Accountant at Sares-Regis Group, a pre-eminent developer of commercial and residential real estate.

Stephanie earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of California, Irvine. She is an active member of CREW and NAIOP Young Professionals Group.
