Robert Dougherty is a Partner of Buchanan Street Partners and serves on the company's Executive Management Committee. He is responsible for ensuring strict underwriting standards, risk analysis, due diligence, pricing and structuring on Buchanan investments. He is a member of the Buchanan Investment Committee and leads the execution of that committee. Robert is integral in the incubation of new funds and investment programs. He has 23 years of commercial real estate experience including 10 years with CarrAmerica Realty Corporation and has an extensive background in acquisitions, financing, and asset management of office properties and retail centers that includes property transactions totaling in excess of $1 billion. Prior to joining Buchanan, Robert headed up his own retail investment advisory firm and also held investment and asset management positions with First Washington Realty and The Crosland Group, Inc. He holds a B.S. in Commerce from the McIntire School at the University of Virginia.
Kevin M. Hampton is responsible for sourcing, developing, acquiring and stabilizing multifamily communities. Mr. Hampton has over 26 years of multifamily development and acquisition experience in both the public and private multifamily sectors throughout California, Colorado, Utah, Texas and Arizona. Mr. Hampton has developed and acquired over 14,000 multifamily units with a market value of over $3 Billion.
Prior to joining Buchanan, Mr. Hampton was responsible for multifamily investment strategy and execution as President of PLC Apartments. Prior to PLC, Mr. Hampton directed development and investment operations throughout the Western United States at Associated Estates, a publically traded REIT. Previous to that Mr. Hampton as Vice President of Development oversaw multifamily developments at Western National Realty Advisors and prior thereto Mr. Hampton worked with Archstone/Ameriton Properties where he was responsible for internal development and joint-venture investment strategies on a national level. Mr. Hampton earned a BA in Economics from the University of Colorado, at Boulder, and is a licensed California Contractor and Real Estate Broker.
Mark Oddo is responsible for the underwriting, due diligence, and ongoing asset management of fund investments. Mark has over 25 years of real estate experience. Prior to joining Buchanan Street Partners, Mark led the asset management function for the institutional advisory group of Draper and Kramer, Inc. based in Chicago. He possesses a diverse professional background including construction management, lending, consulting and underwriting of institutional quality real estate located throughout the United States in all major real estate asset categories. Mark received a B.S. and an MBA in Finance from DePaul University.
Brian Payne is responsible for the acquisition and asset management of equity investment opportunities. Brian has over sixteen years of real estate experience and possesses an extensive background in acquisitions, financing, development and asset management across all major real estate asset categories that includes transactions in excess of $1 billion. Prior to joining Buchanan, Brian worked with LNR Property Corporation where he was responsible for the development and asset management of assets located in California and Arizona. He also led the underwriting and due diligence efforts for various real estate product types. Prior to LNR, he worked with The Carlyle Group as an analyst for the company's U.S. real estate funds.
Brian graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Maryland. He earned a CPA designation and is an active member of the NAIOP Young Professionals Group.
Kimberly Kanen is responsible for the underwriting, financing, and closing of new investments; managing the formulation and implementation of strategies for each property, and ultimately overseeing the disposition of assets at the end of their holding period. Prior to joining Buchanan, she was Director of Asset Management & Leasing for The Garrett Group, a land and investment management company with 2.5 million square feet of office and industrial product under ownership. Kimberly has over 28 years of commercial real estate experience including portfolio management for The Irvine Company where she was the Portfolio Manager for 4.2 million square feet of Class A office space in Orange County. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a major in Real Estate Finance from the University of Southern California.
Matthew Doerr is responsible for sourcing, structuring and underwriting real estate debt investments on behalf of Buchanan Mortgage Holdings (BMH). Matthew has over thirteen years of real estate debt and equity experience involving all major property types, including senior bridge and construction debt, mezzanine investments and participation loans as well as direct equity transactions.
Prior to Buchanan, Matthew served as Director at Union Bank where he underwrote and acquired approximately $850 million of large senior loans backed by high quality CRE and hospitality assets. Before joining Union Bank, Matthew was Vice President at iStar Financial responsible for a $900 million portfolio of construction and mezzanine debt and owned real estate investments. Prior to iStar, Mr. Doerr served at Fremont Investment & Loan supporting both the Asset Management and Loan Origination groups.
Matthew earned his BBA in Finance from Cal State Fullerton and completed his Master of Real Estate Development at University of Southern California. He currently serves as adjunct faculty at Cal State Fullerton teaching real estate finance at the undergraduate level.
Matt Haugen is responsible for sourcing equity investment opportunities in Orange County, San Diego, Houston and Dallas. Matt has nine years of institutional real estate investment experience. In his ten years with Buchanan Street Partners Matt has also been a lead analyst in the origination of over $500 million in debt placement business and the lead analyst in the asset management of principal investments valued at over $750 million.
Matt graduated with a B.S. in Business Administration with an emphasis in Real Estate Finance from the University of Southern California. He is an active member of the NAIOP Young Professionals Group.
Tom Lam is responsible for the sourcing, underwriting, and due diligence efforts of investment opportunities across the United States on behalf of the firm's institutional clients. Tom has over 10 years of commercial real estate experience. Prior to joining Buchanan, Tom was a senior acquisitions analyst at Emmes Asset Management Co, LLC and an analyst with Johnson Capital. Tom received his bachelor's degree in business administration from USC in 2006 and a dual master's degree from USC in business and real estate development in 2014.
Chris Cervisi is responsible for sourcing, structuring and underwriting real estate debt investments on behalf of Buchanan Mortgage Holdings (BMH). Chris has over eight years of equity and debt experience across the major property types. Prior to joining Buchanan, he worked at Jupiter Holdings LLC where he was focused on acquisitions and asset management, including underwriting, market research, business plan formulation, reporting of fund investments, and dispositions.
Prior to joining Jupiter, Chris was a Workout Officer in the CRE Special Assets Group at Union Bank and completed its Commercial Credit Training Program. Chris received a B.S. in Finance from San Diego State University, and is also a level 3 candidate for the CFA Designation.
Stephanie Tan is an Investment Analyst at Buchanan Street Partners. She is responsible for conducting financial analysis and underwriting of equity investment opportunities in the Dallas, Orange County, Phoenix, and San Diego markets. Stephanie also assists with duties relating to asset management, due diligence, and investment packages.
Prior to joining Buchanan Street, Stephanie worked at KBS Realty Advisors as a Senior Corporate Accountant where she was responsible for the accounting of all cash related activity of $11.3 billion in assets. Before joining KBS Realty Advisors, she was a Staff Accountant at Sares-Regis Group, a pre-eminent developer of commercial and residential real estate.
Stephanie earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of California, Irvine. She is an active member of CREW and NAIOP Young Professionals Group.
