Robert S. Brunswick

Chief Executive Officer

Robert S. Brunswick is a Co-Founder and CEO of Buchanan Street Partners, a real estate investment management firm headquartered in Newport Beach, California.  In his capacity Robert has directed the entrepreneurial growth of Buchanan Street since its inception and continues to lead its current strategic direction.  Today, Buchanan Street Partners is a subsidiary of The TCW Group, an international asset management firm with over $120 billion in assets and focuses on value add investing by providing debt and equity capital to owners and operators of commercial real estate as well as buying direct investment for their own account.

In 2005, Robert was named Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year and in 2009, the Boy Scouts of America honored Robert Brunswick and Buchanan Street Partners with the “Good Scout Award” within Orange County.  In his day-to-day activities Robert is responsible for chairing the firm’s Investment and Executive Management Committees.

In 2007, Robert established Buchanan Children’s Charities, a 501(c)(3) organization which measurably improves the lives and educational opportunities for America’s children.  The charity’s signature fundraising events have included Challenge for Children, Encore for Education and the Real Estate Summit.

Robert holds a B.A. from the University of California at Berkeley and has completed Berkeley’s Haas Business School Executive Management Program.  He currently serves as a Board Member of the Hoag Hospital Foundation, Founding Member of the UC Irvine Center for Real Estate and his professional affiliations include membership in the Urban Land Institute (ULI), Pension Real Estate Association (PREA) and Young Presidents Organization (YPO).  Robert is passionate about educating our future leaders and now teaches a commercial real estate class to UCI undergraduates as an adjunct professor.

Timothy Ballard

President 

Timothy J. Ballard is a Co-Founder and the President of Buchanan Street Partners. In his tenure at Buchanan, Mr. Ballard has directed over $5 billion of real estate debt and equity investments. Since Buchanan’s inception, he has elevated Buchanan’s investment initiatives to a national scope through the investment in over 200 properties spanning office, industrial, multi-family and retail assets. These investments encompass both debt and equity and include joint ventures with leading national and international real estate operators. Overall, Mr. Ballard has been responsible for the formation of five commingled funds and separate accounts for the purpose of making value-added real estate investments. These funds manage the assets of public pension plans, life insurance companies, corporate pension funds and HNW investors.  Mr. Ballard has 23 years of real estate experience and holds dual degrees from the University of Pennsylvania and The Wharton School in Economics and Real Estate Finance. His professional affiliations include YPO, PREA,  ULI and NAIOP; and he serves on the Board of Directors for Buchanan Children’s Charities.

Dominic J. Petrucci

Partner and Chief Financial Officer

Dominic J. Petrucci is a Partner and is Chief Financial Officer of Buchanan. Mr. Petrucci is a member of the Executive Management team and is a Director of the Buchanan Board. He has overall operational and financial oversight for Buchanan Street Partners. In addition, he is responsible for business development and new investments on behalf of the Buchanan Funds. He has worked in the real estate industry for 25 years with nearly half his career in direct operations including development and acquisitions, and half in corporate finance and investment operations. During his professional history, Mr. Petrucci has held executive positions at several prominent real estate firms, has led the investment, development or financing of $1.2 billion of commercial real estate, and has led the design and approval process for fund offerings totaling approximately $1.5 billion. Mr. Petrucci graduated from Rider University with a Bachelor of Science in Commerce with a major in Accounting. He is an active member in NAIOP, currently holds several FINRA securities licenses and earned a CPA designation.

Cheryl L. Klem, SPHR

Administrative and Compliance Officer

Cheryl L. Klem is the company administrative and compliance officer for Buchanan. She is responsible for leading the human capital, marketing, corporate administration and compliance initiatives for Buchanan. Ms. Klem has more than 20 years of experience and she is passionate about serving the backbone of Buchanan – its people. She holds B.A. in Psychology from Vanguard University – where she graduated magna cum laude; a vocational education teaching credential from California State University, Long Beach; and holds a SPHR, Senior Human Resources certification.
